Chloramphenicol VUAB 1 g is a synthetic broad-spectrum bacteriostatic antibiotic reserved only for severe infections.
for the treatment of brain abscesses and treatment of meningitis
effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including anaerobic organisms
for severe infections involving aerobic and anaerobic flora (pulmonary, abdominal, gynecological, etc.)
against salmonella, pneumococcal CNS infections, or as an alternative for severe rickettsial infections

Broad spectrum of effectiveness by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis
Typhoid and paratyphoid fever, septic salmonellosis, meningitis, epiglottitis, pertussis and parapertussis, severe infections involving aerobic and anaerobic flora (pulmonary, abdominal, gynecological, etc.), and other infections where the causative pathogen is sensitive only to chloramphenicol.
Chloramphenicol VUAB may only be used for severe infections for which less potentially dangerous drugs are ineffective or contraindicated.
Chloramphenicol is included in the "List of Essential Anti-Infectives for the Czech Republic," which is based on the World Health Organization’s "WHO Model List of Essential Medicines," encompassing fundamental and indispensable medicines.
